Exploring an English Tradition: Afternoon Tea in Vienna
On 11 April 2024, the students of 5BK had the delightful opportunity to experience „Afternoon Tea“ right in the heart of Vienna’s city center. This excursion marked the rapidly approaching end of five years of studying the English language and culture(s) at SZU.
After a comprehensive exploration of British tea culture (yes, there even was a worksheet!), the students had the chance to try different types of tea and various delicate snacks, including the quintessential scones. A lively discussion ensued about the proper way to enjoy scones – whether to spread clotted cream first and then add jam, or vice versa and most of the students agreed that, without a doubt, the first option was the more agreeable one.
All in all, the group had an exceptionally good time and an informative and memorable cultural exchange. And who would have thought that „tea“ could be that filling…
