2022/23
Three enthusiastic students, Martin Dobrev, Philipp Recknagel and Benedikt Rako (all from the class 4BHITN) were honoured to represent the SZU at one of the biggest events aimed at raising awareness about the integration of people with disabilities: the Zero Project Conference, held between 21 and 24 February 2023.
As a part of the Zero Project Conference Youth Delegation Team, they got to visit the newly renovated and refurbished Parliament building in Vienna for the opening ceremony and explore the United Nations’ building, in which there were conferences with attendees from all around the globe.
The opportunity to meet and chat with other people, including disabled people, from all over the world was arguably the second most exciting thing – almost as thrilling as getting to represent SZU, which is a reverse integration school. The conferences held were able to give all three SZU students a thorough insight into the goal of removing all barriers for disabled people, hence the name Zero Project. Both the disabled and able-bodied students could find out all about the project and how much effort is being put into pursuing this common goal across the globe.
