SZU Foreign Language Contest Goes Online

3AFDL, 3AHWII, 5AK 2021/22

We can proudly report that this year’s foreign language contest went ahead thanks to a COVID-safe online format.

On 23 February 2022 eleven candidates from HAK, HTL and FS Leather Design took on the challenge and participated in our in-house competition. They had one lesson to produce two short video clips (duration 90 sec and 5 minutes respectively), which they submitted digitally to the panel of judges comprised of two teachers (SCPA, WALT) and our language assistant Rosie Winchester. They rated the impressive performances against a rubric covering content, language use, body language and audience engagement.

The following three SZU students were selected as the winners:
– Melanie SCHUSKO (FS Leather Design, 3AFDL, English B1 category)
– Andrea PRISSNITZ (HAK, 5 AK, English B2 category)
– Sebastian DAMM (HTL, 3AHWII, English B2 category)

Every entrant received detailed feedback on their performance and a certificate. The winning students were announced at a special presentation where the videos were shown. Head Teacher Martina Mikovits congratulated everyone on the high standard of their linguistic and communication skills.

The winners will go on to represent the SZU at the Viennese Online Foreign Language Contest taking place on 6 April 2022.

Good luck to the three of you!
