SZU Students Shine as Volunteers at the Zero Project Conference Vienna 2025

2024/25

From February 21-23, the Zero Project Conference 2025 (#ZeroCon25) took place at the United Nations Office in Vienna, bringing together over 1,000 participants from more than 90 countries. The event focused on innovative ICT technology for people with disabilities in the workplace, showcasing cutting-edge technical solutions and initiatives that support accessibility and inclusion.

A highlight of this year’s conference was the Zero Project AI Booth, an initiative supported by Microsoft that presented AI-driven tools designed to improve accessibility. Enthusiastic students from SZU (classes 4AHITN and 5BHITN) played a crucial role as volunteers, ensuring the smooth operation of the AI Booth. They assisted attendees by providing information about the AI solutions and encouraged visitors to try them out. Their impressive levels of commitment and professionalism helped to make the AI Booth a great success.
The students also had the chance to interact with industry experts, including Ioana Tanase (AI and Accessibility Project Manager, Microsoft), Christopher Mierbach (AI Engineer & Automation Analyst, Radiaite), and Peter Jeitschko (Co-Founder of Jethire.ai), important figures in the application of AI for accessibility and inclusion.
Through their participation, our students gained valuable practical insights into the world of AI-driven ICT while using the English language in an international setting at the United Nations.
Well done to our SZU volunteers—you really made a difference!
